Manage your Products

Manage your product catalog, search for products, and control your offer display setting for each product.

Import Product Catalog

The most common first step for using Extend is to import your company’s product catalog so that each product can be mapped to protection plans. There are a number of different ways to import your product catalog based on your integration with Extend.

Platform Integration
If your store is created for one of Extend's supported platforms, your product catalog will automatically be imported into your Extend account.

Direct API and/or SDK Integration
If your integration leverages Extend’s API directly, or a combination of Extend’s API and SDK, you will be directed by your Merchant Success Manager to provide Extend a CSV file with your product catalog. After you provide the CSV to your Merchant Success Manager, they will upload the product catalog to your Extend account and notify you when complete.

If you prefer to generate products using an API, you can create product individually or in batch with our Products API

Once your products have been uploaded, mapped to protection plans, and your store enabled, you can see your list of products under the Products tab.

📘

Note

You will be provided a CSV template to use for the product import CSV file. Your product catalog must follow the structure defined in the CSV template to ensure a smooth product upload.

Search, Filter, and Sort the Product List

You can use the Merchant Portal to search, filter, and sort your full product catalog. The following Search, Filter, and Sort instructions also apply to the Variant List View if you have base/variant products in your catalog.

Search by Reference ID or SKU ID
You can use the search bar at the top of the Product List View to search your product catalog by Reference ID or SKU ID.

Product Reference ID and SKU ID are parameters that you provide to Extend during the product catalog upload that map to your company’s internal system, allowing you to search your product catalog using values native to your system.

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Select the parameter you want to search by using the search dropdown (Reference ID by default)
  4. Click the Search button

📘

Note

If you search for a Reference ID or SKU ID associated with a product variant, the search will return the associated base product. To find the specific product variant, click on the link in the Variants column. You can then perform an additional search or filter on the Variant List View to locate the product variant.

Sort your Product List
You can sort your full product catalog on various columns in ascending or descending order. The available columns to sort on are “Name” (default) and “Reference ID”

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Click on your column title of choice to initiate sorting

Apply Filters
You can apply filters on the Product List View to narrow your list down to a specific product or group of products. You can select multiple filter values and/or multiple filter types at once as needed.

The default view for your Product List View will have no filters applied. We support three different filter types:

Display Offer Filter
Filter based on whether an offer is currently being displayed or not on your store. The available values are “Displayed” and “Not Displayed”.

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Click the Filters button
  4. Click the Display Offer dropdown option
  5. Select “Displayed”, “Not Displayed”, or both based on your needs

Category Filter
Filter based on product category, if you provided categories in your initial product catalog upload. The category filter values will be specific to your store – you will see a list of all of the categories you provided during product catalog upload as options. If you did not provide categories in your product catalog upload, you will see “No Options” if you attempt to filter by category.

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Click the Filters button
  4. Click the Category dropdown option
  5. Select one or more categories to see products in those categories

Combine Search, Filter, and Sort
Finally, you have the ability to combine search criteria, filters, and sorting in order to refine your search even further. For example, you might want to filter for products created within a specific date range within a specific product category that are currently displaying product protection offers on your store.

  1. Apply a date range filter
  2. Apply a category filter
  3. Apply a Display Offer filter

Modifying Filters Values
After applying a filter, you can clear or modify a filter by clicking on the grey filter chips beside the Filters button.

To clear a filter, simply click the “x” on the filter chip that you want to clear.

You are also able to update existing filter values after applying your initial filter(s).

  1. Click on the filter chip that you want to modify
  2. In the dropdown, add or remove filter values by checking or unchecking the checkbox beside the filter value

📘

Note

Your product list will begin filtering in real time as you select or deselect filter values.

View Product Details

You can drill into products, variant products, base products from your list views. This enables you to get more detailed information about any product in your catalog.

View Product/Variant Details
Product and Product Variant Details can be accessed by simply clicking on a product from your Product or Variant List View, respectively. Both of these views provide the following information:

  • Product Name
  • Reference ID
  • Matching Status
  • Display Offer (on/off)
  • SKU ID
  • Product Category
  • Product List Price and Currency
  • Product Description
  • Product Image and URL
  • Manufacturer’s Warranty Info
  • Product Identifiers
  • Mapped Protection Plans

📘

Note

You can click on the Information Icon beside the “Status” label to view product status definitions.

View Base Product Details
Base products have product variants linked to them and are accessed from the Product List View by clicking on a product that has a link in the Variants column. Product protection plans will never be mapped to base products – they will be mapped directly to the associated product variants. For that reason, the Base Product Details view is slightly different. It provides the following information:

  • Product Name
  • Reference ID
  • SKU ID
  • Product List Price and Currency
  • Product Description
  • Product Image and URL
  • Manufacturer’s Warranty Info
  • Product Identifiers
  • Link to Variant List View

View Product List

After your product catalog has been imported to your Extend store successfully, you can view your list of products in the Merchant Portal. There are two different product list views that are accessible: Product List View and Variant List View.

View Product List View
The Product List View will display all of your individual products and base products. If your company configured your product catalog with base-variant relationships, your variant products won’t be displayed in the Product List View (see next section).

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products

View Variant List View
If your company configured your product catalog with base-variant relationships, your variant products will be accessible by clicking on the link in the “Variants” column associated with the base product of interest.

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Search by the Reference ID of the base product
  4. Click on the variants link in the Display Offer column

On the Variant List View, you will see all the variant products mapped to the base product.

Enable/Disable Offers

After your products have been mapped to protection plans and your store enabled, you will be able to enable or disable product protection offers for your store. This controls whether customers will be presented with an Extend offer on your store or not. You can control offers at the product or product variant level.

Enable or disable an offer from your Product List View:

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. For the product in the list that you want to enable/disable, click the toggle button under the Display Offer column

Enable or disable an offer from your Product Details View:

  1. Log into the Merchant Portal
  2. On the left navigation bar, click on Products
  3. Click on your product of choice in the Product List View
  4. Once you are on the Product Details View, click the toggle button at the top of the page labeled as Display Offer

There are three states the Display Offer toggle can be in for each product:

  • Enabled – Toggle is green and product protection offer is currently being displayed in your store
  • Disabled – Toggle is grey and and product protection offer is not currently being displayed in your store
  • Locked – Toggle is grey with a lock icon preventing you from enabling the product protection offer. This is either because 1) the product is a base (or “parent”) product in which case you would control your offers at the variant level 2) the product is pending mapping to a product protection plan and cannot be enabled yet or 3) the product is not eligible to be mapped to a product protection plan. Looking at the Status field on the Product Details View provides you information as to why the Display Offer toggle is locked.

📘

Note

Your offer display setting will update real time in your store after clicking the toggle button.
